Bow To Your Chair

Started by Candace this is the third piece to be finished....It went from Candace to Shelley, then on to Maryam, Mario and finally to Termeh.

termeh said...: I had the hardest time with this piece. In fact, after much work, I finally gave up on it and went to return it to Candace, thinking it can't get any more finished! However; once over at her studio, I saw some of the alterations that Shelly had made to the pieces she had a hard time with and decided I've been limiting myself! So, I went back to my studio and covered much of what was bothering me and began my quest to unify the multiple textures that each of us had brought to the piece.
At the end, I have to say it's become a very interesting piece. Very post-modern!; May 16, 2007 at 11:49 PM

About the project

A collaborative project by 5 artists in San Francisco, Southern California, Boston. Instigated by Candace, all the artists immediately agreed to participate, most without prior knowlege of the others or their work. Each was to start 2 pieces on 12x16 hot pressed water color paper, title the piece, photograph and send on to the next artist on the list. Writing about the piece was optional and there were no rules, or guidlines, at all. Everyone agreed to return the pieces to the orangeland studio and have a show upon completion. As we worked on them it became clear that there was great diversity of styles and methods, but all seemed to me to be a microcosm of the state of the world's interaction, therefore I cal it a visual micrososmic comment on the state of interaction in the world today.
